LIBRARY


The library was established with the establishment of college in 1995. The donation of Six lakhs is given for the library by Topiwale Charitable Trust, Malvan in the memory of late. Sitaram Narayanrao Desai-Topiwale., so the name of the library is Late. Sitaram Narayanrao Desai-Topiwale Library. The first librarian of the college library was Mrs. Pratibha Kamat succeeded by Mr. Gaonkar , Miss. Manisha Sawant-Bhosale , Mr. Prashant Bandekar, Mr. Golam. Now Mr. Anil A. Shirke is working as a librarian from December 2004.

 

Earlier the library was in the old college building, then it is transferred into the new administrative and library building. The total area of the library is about 1400sq ft. Teacher’s reading cum Reference Section, Stack section, Periodical section and Reading Section are the main features of the new library. More than 50 students can sit and read in the reading section at a time.

The automation of the library is in process with COMLIB software. The students have given partly open access to the main stack section, so they can see, touch, read and select the books for home lending. Students can also issue separate book for reading in the reading room and can read for the whole day. There are 40 periodicals subscribed and kept on the periodical display rack. 09 news papers have been available in the ‘Newspaper and periodical section’. The main collection is kept in the stack section, where books are arranged according to DDC classification system. Proper guidelines have been displayed on the stacks to guide the users to search the books.
